COLD POOL

Daily Cleaning (End of Day)
  • Skim pool for debris.
  • Power wash surrounding pool deck and non-slip surfaces.
  • Test and adjust pH (7.2–7.6), chlorine (1–3 ppm) or bromine (3–5 ppm).
  • Clean handles, ladders, and pool edge with hydrogen peroxide-based cleaner.
  • Backwash or rinse filters and clean skimmer baskets.
Weekly Cleaning
  • Add non-chlorine or chlorine shock treatment and run pump 30–60 minutes.
  • Scrub pool walls with a soft brush.
  • Check pump operation and drainage.
  • Fully drain and clean interior with mild acid or vinegar solution.
  • Refill and rebalance water chemistry.
  • Replace or clean cartridge/DE/sand filters.
  • Inspect emergency lighting and safety features.
GENERAL SAFETY NOTES
  • Use only spa-safe, non-toxic cleaning agents.
  • Staff must wear gloves and appropriate PPE.
  • Post cleaning-in-progress signage.
  • Maintain a cleaning log for health inspections and staff visibility.
Mold & Biofilm Prevention
  • Use EPA-registered mold-inhibiting disinfectant on all sauna surfaces daily.
  • Perform weekly deep cleaning with diluted hydrogen peroxide on walls, ceilings, and drains.
  • Inspect corners, under benches, and other high-risk areas regularly.
Pest Control & Drain Maintenance
  • Schedule bi-monthly professional pest control services.
  • Conduct weekly enzymatic drain cleanings to eliminate organic buildup.
  • Install fine mesh drain covers to prevent insect emergence.
Odor Control & Ventilation
  • Maintain HVAC systems and replace filters monthly.
  • Use dehumidifiers in high-moisture zones to reduce humidity.
  • Install HEPA-filter air purifiers in communal spaces.
Water Quality & Infection Control
  • Implementation of automated chemical monitoring and dosing systems.
  • Test pH, chlorine, and other levels multiple times daily.
  • Integrate UV sterilization systems in pool and plunge water circulation.
Enhanced Cleaning Protocols
  • Disinfect all communal spaces immediately after use with appropriate agents.
  • Provide regular staff training in sanitation and PPE use.
  • Keep a log of all cleaning actions for accountability and inspection.
Behavioral Monitoring & Safety
  • Use security cameras in communal spaces (excluding private areas).
  • Ensure staff presence in high-traffic areas to monitor and support guests.
  • Display a clear, visible code of conduct with strict enforcement policies.
  • No overcrowding - maximum 60 guests at any one time
Regulatory Compliance
  • Conduct routine internal audits to ensure compliance with NYC Health Code Article 165.
  • Require up-to-date certifications for relevant staff (e.g., NYC Pool Operator Certificate).
  • Maintain and regularly update emergency preparedness plans.

SAUNA

Daily Cleaning (End of Day)
  • Power wash floors and any non-wooden surfaces using warm water and a mild enzymatic cleaner.
  • Wipe benches, backrests, door handles, and walls with a damp microfiber cloth.
  • Use a non-toxic wood-safe disinfectant (e.g., hydrogen peroxide-based cleaner). Avoid bleach.
  • Sweep or vacuum dry debris before mopping or power washing.
  • Empty and sanitize water buckets and ladles with warm, soapy water.
  • Run the ventilation system for 15–30 minutes after closing.
  • Remove trash and soiled towels.
  • Run UV light protocol to sterilize Sauna interior, pool deck and all surrounding areas.
Weekly Cleaning
  • Lightly sand benches with fine sandpaper to remove buildup.
  • Vacuum dust after sanding.
  • Check for mold and spot-treat with vinegar or hydrogen peroxide cleaner.W
